Interfusion Festival X (IFX)

A saucy dance is built from the ground up. In this workshop, you'll delve into the art of creating a movement conversation between you, the floor and your partner, boosting your ability to respond to movements while serving your unique style. We’ll delve into crucial techniques that enhance both precision and freedom in your dance, including tips on maintaining balance, optimizing foot placement, and playing with rhythm. Discover how to blend control with creativity, allowing for a more expressive Brazilian Zouk social dance.
🌶️  Mild: The workshop does not invite sensuality or sexuality. There will be no facilitator invitations to cuddle or share moving touch, plus no welcoming or invoking of sexual energy. Any partner dancing that occurs will default to or center open position.

This progressive workshop series will give you the tools you need to start your journey in Brazilian Zouk. Learn the fundamentals, understand a bit of our history and etiquette, and be prepared to step into a brand new world of limitless possibilities in shared, expressive dance.

A body conditioning class connected with the power of the imagination where we will use elements of nature to explore your natural, organic flow with your own movements. Create movements from within, to achieve greater expressions for Brazilian Zouk. How you feel is how you move.

This workshop will introduce principles from stage performance that can be harnessed to create more honesty, appreciation, and purposeful expression on the dance floor.
Class will begin with a brief session of storytelling and discussion to establish context and understanding for how to approach the exercises. Expect to engage your mind as much as your body in this class.
The content of this workshop has overlap with conscious communication and embodied movement though the focus will be on application to social partner dance. No performance experience necessary.
